Ty'rone Haughton is a Jamaican born poet, author and Care Leaver. His poetry focuses on societal issues, identity and lived experiences.
Ty'rone is an experienced independent panel member, sitting on multiple fostering panels such as Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire County Council. He works in close partnership with various arts and youth service providers nationally, delivering specialised youth engagement work using poetry and other creative disciplines.
Ty'rone's work as a facilitator has seen him work with organisations such as The Trussell Trust, Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, Deliveroo, Leicester Curve, The Belgrade Theatre, Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Women and Theatre, Coventry City of Culture and The National Holocaust Museum to name a few. Ty'rone's unique experiences and expertise in social care, youth work and poetry have led him to create meaningful work which combines community outreach with creative writing and performance.
Ty’rone is the Founder and Artistic Director of poetry organisation, Literati Arts - which offers high quality poetry projects. Literati Arts predominantly works with looked after children and care leavers as well as the black community in Leicester.
Ty’rone is currently an ‘Expert by Experience’ for Frontline and is a member of the FosterTalk Advisory Committee.
In November 2022 Ty’rone’s debut poetry collection HOODS, was published by Verve Poetry Press
