ASK ASIAN AUNTY
As part of TIWWA, we launched Ask Asian Aunty in the UK along with it’s organisers.
On 20 March, between 10am-11am, our Asian Aunties - Sundra Lawrence and Jamie Lewis - hosted a live Instagram event on @askasianaunty where they answered all your questions.
Ask Asian Aunty is an interactive performance that melds two cultural matriarchal forms: the Asian Aunty, someone who consistently gives unsolicited and unfiltered but ~loving~ life advice; and the Agony Aunt, an advice columnist offering solutions to readers’ personal problems.
Your questions were answered by the Asian Aunties in a typical brash, humorous and caring manner. Maybe it was not the advice you want to hear but it was probably the advice you need.

Sundra is a poet, writer, editor, creative director and meditation walker; and now our newest Aunty~ yeah!
About
Ask Asian Aunty is a collaboration between Jamie Lewis and Tian Zhang, with digital producer Amy Zhang. The initial concept was created by Jamie Lewis, Natalie Tan and Tian Zhang across Australia and Singapore, and launched in early 2021 on @askasianaunty featuring OG aunties Jamie Lewis and Natalie Tan. In late 2021, Ask Asian Aunty featured queer aunties-in-residence Anna Hay and Rosie McGowan.
