Nur Shkembi is a curator, writer and scholar of contemporary Islamic art. She has produced and curated over 150 events, exhibitions and community engagement projects. Shkembi was part of the core team that established the Islamic Museum of Australia. As a museum curator, Nur brought artefacts together with traditional and contemporary art as a means for collective storytelling, to subvert stereotypes and as a platform for individual narratives. Nur is currently undertaking a PhD in the Department of Art History at the University of Melbourne where she is investigating contemporary Islamic art through a Neo-orientalist and postcolonial lens. Nur is a Fellow of the Centre of Visual Arts (CoVA) at the University of Melbourne.

Nur is among the co-directors of This Is Who We Are. She organised the salon on women, creativity and activism amid the political and social upheaval in Afghanistan. Details for the event on 19 March here.
